I met Gov. Fallin!! I was able to present her with my bracelet and tell her about my efforts in working with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The timing of the gift was important because October is the 8th year of the Feeding Oklahoma Food Drive. Gov. Fallin started the drive to do exactly what I want to do with my bracelets, make a difference. I’m thankful the Governor spent so much time with me, even giving me a personal tour of her private office. Even though it was under construction and she didn’t have windows or pictures on the wall, she opened her doors! I’m so appreciative for the opportunity to share my message and make a difference for all ages.
It’s always a great feeling to serve at the Regional Food Bank. This trip was special because my Mom and I served in Hopes Kitchen. One of my favorite places within the food bank. I know each area has importance, for me the kitchen is an area where I see little hands taking the snacks and meals we provide and filling their stomachs. I see the value of volunteering and giving back. Being hands on is important to me and I’m thankful the Regional Food Bank gives so many the opportunity to volunteer. Seeing the needs of others and having the ability to do something about it with my own hands allows me to personally make a difference. Thank you to each one of you who have already purchased a bracelet. This trip to the food bank was significant because I delivered a check from the sales of my bracelet, which equaled 448 meals! I couldn’t do it without you!
I am late in posting this, but so excited to share how I have experienced some amazing opportunities to help children all across the state of Oklahoma. I kicked off the 2nd Annual Ending Childhood Hunger Food drive, with over 1,100 pounds of food collected. It was a blessing to children in Edmond Public schools. Cimarron Middle School was gracious to allow me to come speak to their student body about how they can help and collect food for those who are hungry in their school.
